Goose in the Pond is a striking geometric quilt block that looks surprisingly modern today.

The pattern was published by Ruby Short McKim in her book, One Hundred and One Patchwork Patterns,in 1931. The quilt pictured above is from Ohio and dates circa 1910. Goose in the Pond is a complex block using squares, half-square triangles, nine-patch sections and strip piecing.
